OBhula Homestay ("OBhula", "we", "us") runs the Obhula Woods and Obhula Heights homestays on June Estate Road, Bhimtal, Uttarakhand 263136, and the website obhula.com. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit the website, send us an enquiry or stay with us, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It is written with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 in mind.
Information we collect
When you send an enquiry
The booking forms on our home and contact pages ask for your name, phone number, email address, check-in and check-out dates, preferred property or room, number of guests and any special requests. You can also reach us by phone, WhatsApp or email, in which case we receive whatever you choose to share.
When you stay with us
At check-in we record the name, address and contact details of guests and a copy of a government-issued photo ID, as required of accommodation providers in India. For foreign nationals we also record passport and visa details, which we are required to report to the authorities (Form C). We may also note dietary needs, allergies or accessibility requirements you tell us about so we can look after you.
When you browse the website
Like most websites, obhula.com uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. It collects information such as the pages you view, how you arrived at the site, your approximate location (city level), device and browser type, using cookies and similar technologies. We do not use this to identify you personally.
How we use your information
- To reply to your enquiry, check availability, confirm your booking and send payment details.
- To prepare for your stay, including meals, pickups, activities and any special requests.
- To meet legal obligations such as guest registration and tax records.
- To keep our guests, staff and property safe.
- To understand which parts of the website are useful and improve it.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not send marketing messages unless you have asked us to keep in touch.
How enquiries are sent
When you submit a booking form, WhatsApp opens on your device with your enquiry already written, addressed to our bookings number. Nothing is sent until you press Send in WhatsApp. A copy of the form details is also saved to the online lead inbox we use to manage enquiries, so that no request is missed. WhatsApp's own privacy policy applies to messages you send through it.
Cookies and third-party services
The website relies on a few third-party services, each of which may receive technical data such as your IP address:
- Google Analytics – visitor statistics, using cookies.
- Google Fonts – the typefaces used on the site.
- Google Maps – the maps embedded on some pages to show our location.
- WhatsApp (Meta) – when you choose to chat with us or send an enquiry.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on. The site will still work if you do.
CCTV
For security, CCTV cameras operate in common and outdoor areas of the property. There are no cameras in guest rooms or bathrooms. Footage is kept for a limited period and is only reviewed or shared if needed to investigate an incident or when required by law.
Who we share information with
We share personal information only when it is needed:
- With our own staff, so they can look after your stay.
- With drivers, guides or activity operators we book on your behalf, limited to what they need (for example your name, phone number and pickup time).
- With service providers who help us run the website and handle enquiries.
- With the police or other government authorities where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details for as long as needed to respond and follow up, and booking and guest registration records for as long as the law requires (for example for tax or police verification purposes). After that, we delete them or keep them in a form that no longer identifies you.
Keeping your information safe
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including limiting who can see guest records and storing ID copies securely. No website or online service is completely secure, so please avoid sending sensitive documents over channels you are not comfortable with.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you and how it has been used;
- correct or update information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- delete your information, unless we are required by law to keep it;
- stop using your information for a purpose you previously agreed to.
To make a request, or to raise a concern about how your information has been handled, email info@obhula.com. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.
Children
The website is meant for adults planning a trip. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the website; bookings for families are made by an adult.

Our blog and guides link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, so please read their policies when you visit them.
